ABSTRACT
Τhis paper asks what cognitive mechanisms enable the emergence of novel choreographic material in AI-assisted choreography. I defend three interrelated claims. First, current AI systems do not generate novelty independently, since their outputs consist in statistical recombination of existing movement patterns. Second, human-AI interaction expands the choreographic search space and yields more varied material than either system alone. Third, novelty arises through the coordination of heterogeneous representations (e.g., linguistic, imagistic, and sensorimotor) via cross-format translation and bodily evaluation. I argue that these processes converge in a distinctive, trainable skill: co-choreographing with AI. Finally, I contend that this activity is best understood as a form of co-intelligence in action, and that any grammar of co-choreography must be grounded in the cognitive organization underlying this coordinated creative process.
