Punctum – International Journal of Semiotics is committed to real and immediate open access for academic work. All of the Punctum’s articles and reviews are free to access immediately from the date of publication. But for a minimal processing fee, aimed to cover only the cost of the domain name and the website’s content management/editing, there are no author charges (commonly known as APCs) prior to publication, and no charge for any reader to download articles and reviews for their own scholarly use. To facilitate this Punctum depends upon the goodwill of its editorial team and the continuing support of its network of peer reviewers.

Punctum operates under the Creative Commons Licence CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 International This allows for the reproduction of articles, reviews or reports, free of charge, for non-commercial use only and with the appropriate citation information. All authors publishing with Punctum accept these as the terms of publication. Please note that copyright of the content of all articles, reviews and reports remains with their designated author(s). Copyright of the journal’s layout and design of articles and reviews remains with the Punctum and cannot be used in other publications. More specifically, the major provisions of the above licence are:

  • Recognition of authorship
    The author(s) of the articles/review/reports and the journal Punctum must be expressly mentioned in full whenever a fragment or complete text is copied, distributed, publicly communicated or made accessible interactively (via the Internet or other means).
