John Deely was born on 26 April 1942 in Chicago, Illinois and died on 6 January 2017 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He had staged a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer from 2015-2016, continuing to work for part of that year and coping in a fashion that he and close onlookers considered ‘miraculous’.
